About Cake Fest Middlesbrough

Grab your wooden spoon and help us bake a giant edible map of our great town!

To mark the launch of Middlesbrough Town Hall, we need YOU to bake with us! We’re looking for bakers of all abilities, from absolute beginners to slick professionals, to help create a giant edible map of Middlesbrough.

Whether you’re going solo, or baking with friends, family or colleagues, you can pick your favourite landmark building or place in Middlesbrough and recreate it in cake form.

On the big day your cake sculpture will be placed along with dozens of others onto a giant edible map which will be skillfully created by Head Baker Simon Preston. And remember, you’re never alone! You’ll be helped and guided by Simon and the Cake Fest community every step of the way.

Cake Fest Middlesbrough is open to everyone – there’s no charge to take part – and it promises to be amazing fun! Even if you think you can’t do it, trust us, you can!

The grand unveiling of Cake Fest Middlesbrough will take place on Sunday 1 July in Centre Square outside Middlesbrough Town Hall. The fully edible landscape will be modelled under cover, and bakers will arrive throughout the day to add their creation to the masterpiece. Once the map has been completed, and people have had the chance to marvel at it, the cake buildings will be sliced up and shared with onlookers.

You can choose from our list of suggested landmarks or, if there’s a special place that you’d like to re-create, get in touch and suggest it – we just need to approve your choice, and then you’re good to go!
